Step 1: Request an Information Packet
 


To begin the process, complete the inquiry form found by clicking on Request Information or call the Admissions Office at (973) 379-3442 to provide your contact information and request a packet.

Step 2: Visit Far Brook

Prospective parents are required to tour our campus to learn about Far Brook’s philosophy and curriculum. There are three ways to visit Far Brook:

Our Small Group Tour gives you an opportunity to learn about Far Brook from current parents, the Directors of the Lower and Upper Schools and Director of Admissions. Space is limited to 10 people per tour. RSVP required. Click here to register for an event.

Individual Tour:

If you are unable to attend an Open House or Small Group Tour, you may arrange to have a tour given by the Director of Admissions. Please call (973) 379-3442 for an appointment.

Step 3: Receive/Submit Application

Once you have visited Far Brook, you may receive an application. The application deadline for 2011-2012 is January 24, 2011. Applications will be accepted after the deadline on a space-available basis. The submission of an application formally begins the process and allows the Admissions Office to contact you to schedule necessary appointments. Appointments are filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Applications received on the deadline may have a limited selection of dates for testing, visits, and interviews.

Step 4: Screening or Testing

Once an application has been received, the Admissions Office will call you to schedule appropriate screening or testing:

Nursery:
There is no individual screening for Nursery applicants.

Kindergarten:
All Kindergarten applicants meet individually with Far Brook’s learning consultant for an individual developmental screening.

Grades One – Seven:
Applicants are tested individually by Far Brook’s learning consultant. In addition to Far Brook testing, applicants for Grades Five, Six, and Seven may also submit results from the SSAT, ISEE, or CTP IV taken within the last year.

Step 5: Request Documentation from Current School

Teacher Recommendations
are required for all applicants. Age appropriate forms may be found in the application. Recommendations must be filled out by the applicant’s current teacher and mailed directly by the school to Far Brook.

School Transcripts/Report Cards are required for all applicants for Grades Two – Seven. Submit the Release of Records form, found in the application, to your child’s current school. Records should be sent by the school directly to Far Brook.

Step 6: Parent and Student Visits

Applicants for Nursery, Kindergarten, and First Grade will be invited to attend a scheduled Playgoup with peer applicants. The admissions office will call parents to schedule Playgroups once an application has been received. Playgroups take place in January and February.

Applicants for Grades Two – Seven may be invited to spend a half or full day at Far Brook with the class they would be joining. Visits will be scheduled following a review of the application and related documents.
