The restoration of Far Brook's Schoolyard Wetlands Habitat has been in the works for some time. And much has been done! Two wonderful pathways have been created, circling around the entire Wetlands (affectionately known as "the swamp" by some alumni!) - one to the left, weaving all the way to the little bridge, and one all the way around to the right. Along both pathways are "learning circles," cut from wide tree trunks, where classes can sit and sketch, study nature in quiet, write poems, and discover the mysteries and peace of the wood.
The final piece of the Wetlands restoration is the creation of a T-shaped, "Gateway to Nature" walkway. This landing will enable children to be in the midst of the Habitat and pond resource. The detailed plans created for the "Gateway to Nature" walkway have been approved by the State. View the plans!
A very special "thank you" to everyone involved in this wonderful project for the students. More news soon!
