This transformative capital effort enhanced the intimate environment where Far Brook students explore, learn, and take part in the rich experiences that remain with them for a lifetime.

The Campaign supported the construction of two new buildings: the Music & Arts Building and the Kronthal Science & Environmental Center, which includes the Charlotte '07 and Duncan '04 Fisher Woodshop, all of which face the Wetlands Habitat, our wonderful natural resource. As part of the Campaign, funds were also raised for Far Brook’s Endowment and a newly restored 1894 Steinway B piano.

The new Music & Arts Building includes a larger and more functional orchestra and choral room with direct access to an outdoor amphitheater, a larger Lower School music room with flexible space for dance and instrument storage, and a larger, more functional fine arts room with an outdoor deck facing the Wetlands. The Kronthal Science & Environmental Center includes three separate and flexible lab spaces, all with age-appropriate furnishings, layouts, and equipment. The Fisher Woodshop, incorporated at the end of the building closest to Moore Hall, is larger, with a better layout that facilitates a variety of projects including those using the 3D printers. The new facilities allow the School to better accommodate Far Brook’s student body, while enabling our faculty to continue to offer new and innovative programming to deepen the creative learning that takes place at Far Brook each day.

The “quiet” phase of the Campaign began in the fall of 2012 and went public on April 24, 2014. At its conclusion in December 2015, the Campaign surpassed its goal of $8M, raising more than $8.5M. Far Brook School is grateful for the Campaign donors, whose generosity made this possible.

How lucky we are to be here at this remarkable elementary school…to give our children the gift of an unhurried childhood, with time to question, explore, and think about things that matter.
