ACTIVITIES

For all grades, a fee of $250 per child is charged to cover the cost of classroom activities and trips. Grades Five and Six are charged an additional $250 to cover team sports expenses. The Junior High students take two annual trips - one week in upstate New York , and an additional four-day trip to visit a city in Canada.  The cost of both these trips, classroom activities, and local class trips, are included in the Seventh and Eighth grade total fee of $1,500.

TRANSPORTATION

Far Brook School hires a private bus company to provide school bus transportation for those families who wish to subscribe. This service is provided on a break- even basis, transportation fees being set to equal the costs charged by a private bus company. Transportation fees and areas serviced vary each year depending on the number of families who sign up for this service. Where possible, door-to-door service is provided. Under the present transportation laws of the State of New Jersey, students from certain areas are entitled to bus service or a rebate of transportation charges, based on New Jersey State formula, at public expense. For more information, please contact the Business Office.

ANNUAL FUND

At Far Brook, as at most independent day schools in the United States, tuition and fees do not cover the full cost of the education students receive.  To help meet costs, schools depend upon contributions by current families, alumni, grandparents, family foundations, businesses, and friends.  At Far Brook, these gifts are given mainly through an Annual Fund.  Far Brook’s Annual Fund Goal for 2007-2008 is $415,000.  The suggested current parent “Fair Share” gift is $1,600 per student.  Contributions are voluntary.  In 2006-2007, 97% of Far Brook parents agreed to participate, and 100% of parents new to the School participated.

OTHER

After School Programs, special tutoring, and private music lessons are available at additional cost.

Far Brook School adheres to a policy of admitting students of any race, religion, color, and national or ethnic origin, and entitles them to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the School.  The School does not discriminate on the basis of color, race, religion, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and assistance programs, and athletic or other school- administered programs.
