Joseph A. Skloot and his wife, Erin Glazer, joined the Far Brook community in 2020 and are the parents of two Far Brook students, Maya (Class of 2027) and Solomon (Class of 2032), who joined Far Brook’s Kindergarten in Fall 2023. Joe currently serves on Far Brook’s Board Diversity Committee and has volunteered his time in other areas of the School. He is the Rabbi Aaron D. Panken Assistant Professor of Modern Jewish Intellectual History at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR). He writes and teaches about questions relating to literary and material culture; religious and political thought; and inter-religious and inter-cultural encounters, and is the author of First Impressions: Sefer Ḥasidim and Early Modern Hebrew Printing (Brandeis University Press, 2023). He earned his A.B. from Princeton, his rabbinical ordination from HUC-JIR, and his Ph.D. from Columbia.
