Far Brook School announced that Charles M. Blow will be the keynote speaker for "Widening the Lens 2017: The Far Brook School Diversity Conference." Mr. Blow, an Op-Ed columnist at The New York Times, a CNN commentator, and a Presidential Visiting Professor at Yale where he teaches a seminar on media and politics, is also the author of the critically acclaimed New York Times bestselling memoir, Fire Shut Up in My Bones.
“Widening the Lens,” will be held November 11 on Far Brook School campus. The focus of this year's conference is “LGBTQ+: Illuminating the Spectrum and Cultivating Pride.”
Modeled after the annual Dalton Diversity Conference for New York City independent schools, the goal of this unique, all-day, interactive program is to bring together administrators, alumni, diversity coordinators, faculty, parents, students, and trustees to share experiences and develop school-specific action plans. Thirteen New Jersey independent schools will each participate with a ‘pod’ of two people from each of seven disciplines, representing different perspectives and working collectively to broaden and improve inclusion within their schools.
“Widening the Lens” is created and sponsored by Far Brook School, a Nursery - Eighth Grade independent school, in partnership with ConnectOne Bank.Learn more at http://www.farbrook.org/page.cfm?p=1011
