Stay & Play
with Far Brook Faculty & Staff
Nursery – Grade Two
Monday – Friday 

Stay for an afternoon of more fun and more games. Students will be able to choose from a variety of activities to keep them engaged and have fun with their classmates as well as other Far Brook students. This a great way to spend more time in the classroom and socialize with other grades, too! Stay & Play is also available on a drop-in basis by notifying administration office.

Homework Club
with Far Brook Faculty & Staff
Grades Three – Eight
Monday – Friday

Spend some supervised time after school in the 5th grade classroom, which is located in the back of the Middle School Building. Grades Three through Eight can complete their homework in a quiet atmosphere, Monday through Friday. Homework Club is also available on a drop-in basis by notifying the administrative office.

Extended Day 
with Far Brook Faculty & Staff

Monday – Friday

Extended Day is for students to stay at school when the After School Program classes have finished.

Students will spend time in the library until they are picked up. Students will work on homework and have a variety of activities to choose from. Parents may pick up students any time before 6:00 pm. Extended Day is available after any full school day, following the After School Program. This program is also available on a drop-in basis by notifying the administrative office.

POP CULTURE
 with PARTEAZ

Each week the students will make a craft (slime, jewelry, sewing) or spa product (Lip gloss, Shower Gel, Bath salts) incorporating some of our best party themes! Mermaids, Unicorns, Spa, Emojis, Rock Star, PJ, Rainbow; are all part of the mix! Play group games as well as individual activities that promote self esteem, while helping others and make each child feel unique and creative!

Chef’s Club is a cooking and baking class that encourages and instills a love of cooking through a variety of age-appropriate recipes. In addition to learning the fundamentals of cooking, the group members will also enjoy the fun and creative process. They prepare tasty dishes and desserts through hands-on sessions that they can then take home to share with family and friends.

Through the lens of design thinking, students will have the opportunity to create innovative solutions to the environmental and societal problems that we face in the 21st century. STEAM Tinkering will provide structured and unstructured time for understanding challenges, brainstorming solutions, designing and building prototypes, and testing products.

Get your body grooving and moving in this high-energy movement class. We will take part in fun games with props, imagination, and music!

Students will play a variety of games including dodgeball, soccer, flag football and more! Games are played in a fun, encouraging social environment where children are able to interact with those in other grades. Sportsmanship and character development are emphasized.

Knitting

  Tuesdays

Knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one…and before you know it, you have a yarn creation! Knitters of all levels can join this class. Everyone will learn knitting fundamentals and will knit their own scarf in three color blocks!

Amazing Animal Adventures
with Sol Child LLC.
Nursery – Kindergarten

From slow-moving sloths to fast-swimming sharks, from itty-bitty insects to giant giraffes, our world is full of amazing animals! Join us as we go on a new adventure each week to explore these incredible creatures through stories, crafts and games.

Learn how to play chess with Diplomat Chess! State and national champions have come from our programs, but most of our students are casual players looking to learn and have fun. Club time is split between an interactive lesson and supervised play. Lessons depend on the group, but can range from the rules to advanced tournament strategies. Game time is structured to ensure that participants play someone of similar ability.

All equipment will be provided by Diplomat Chess and each participant will receive a complimentary ChessKid.com gold account (a value of $49/year) for the duration that they are enrolled in chess club.

 Paint & Print
with OHCanary!
Grades One – Three
Wednesday

During this class, elementary artists will use processes of painting and printmaking!  How do colors mix?  Can we use the motion in our bodies to create interesting marks?  How can we combine media to create layers in our work?  What is repetition?  We’ll explore these ideas through a dynamic and colorful curriculum that is sure to engage any child.  We’ll create gestural abstract paintings, layered prints mono prints, our own stamps to print on a tote, and more!

 Little Architects
with OH! Canary
Grade One – Three
Thursdays

In this class, elementary artists will design and build in three different units.  First we’ll assemble treehouses from natural materials.  Then we’ll observe skyscrapers and build our own, and finally we’ll analyze work by architects like Gaudi, Buckminster Fuller, Lloyd Wright, Zaha Hadid, and Frank Gehry, and choose one to inspire our own 2-d and 3-d design.

with Chris Murphy

Welcome to the world of computer science! Using tools such as code.org and MIT’s SCRATCH, participants will learn how computers work and have the opportunity to learn the basics of coding. Each student will be working in a collaborative setting in order to allow students to help and mentor each other.

There’s always time for more dodgeball! This class offers the classic game, as well as other types of games that will challenge young athletes pysically and strategically.

 Spectrum, A Social Justice Club 
Grades Six – Eight
 Thursday

Spectrum is a class that provides students in Grades 6-8 an opportunity to engage in conversations about social justice, personal experiences, learn about history, and discuss current events.

Super Hero Training
 with PARTEAZ
 Nursery – Kindergarten
 Friday 

Our goal is get your child active and increase his/her self-confidence, courage and coordination through the use of fun exercises, games, crafts, and group activities. Some of the things we’ll do in addition to using our x-ray vision are: make our own superhero capes, power belts, masks, etc… Superhero smoothies and Trail mix are part of the activities to keep up our super-duper strength.

 Dirt Diggers
 with Sol Child LLC.
 Grades One -Three 
 Friday

Children revel in sensorial experiences like digging in dirt, pulling weeds and lifting “heavy” items like a wheelbarrow. Students will be sure to love and benefit from participation in learning what and how to plant, experimentation with the needs of plants, transplanting seedlings, watering and caring for the garden, and of course, harvesting the rewards!

  • Co-ed, open to Grades 5-8.
  • Begins Monday, January 6 and ends Wednesday, March 25 
  •  Held in the Gym from 3:30 – 4:30.
  •  Students may sign up for one or both of the days.
  • Cost is $250 and is billed through TADS.
  • Registration will end Friday, January 3 or until enrollment reaches 15 students.
