First Grade’s Tree Sculptures
Seeing the trees AND the forest! Far Brook’s First Grade has been out and about all year on Far Brook’s campus and in local arboreta, closely observing different types of trees, their branches, leaves, and environments as part of the First Grade’s curriculum, “Environment and Community.” Students have used these observations to inspire creative expression in their drawings, paintings, poems, stories, and, just recently, woodshop sculptures.
Project-based Learning in Junior High Math
Far Brook’s Junior High math students are often given project-based challenges to engage them and deepen their understanding and application of geometry, algebra, and other math concepts. Studies have shown that information learned through projects (project-based learning or PBL) is better retained and applied to new situations than information learned passively through lectures.
Fourth Grade Poetry Presentation
